On many traditional chat platforms, if your password is compromised, a hacker can log in and read your entire chat history. This happens because data is stored in a decryptable format on the server.

So what is the Recovery Key?
- When you join a conversation, each chat room has a “private key” to decrypt messages.
- All those “chat room keys” are protected in a “safe vault”.
- Recovery Key is the “master key” to open this vault, it is randomly generated into a string of 12 words that only you hold and is never stored on the server.

📌 To secure your chat history, you need to:
1️⃣ Go to “Settings”.
2️⃣ Go to “Security”.
3️⃣ In the “SECURE BACKUP” section, click “Set Up”.
4️⃣ Click to select “Use Security Key”.
5️⃣ Click “Save” and don’t forget to back up this Recovery Key.
📌 Enable the additional mode “never send messages to untrusted sessions” to keep your account safe even if breached. Because at that time, the intruder will not receive new messages while you still receive them normally on a trusted device.
